Goodby 5, Hello 6!

Wendy decided she wanted a Batman party this year.  She told me she wanted invitations with her in her costume but her boots had to be showing.  She also said she wanted the Batman logo but the invitation had to be pink.  She put so much thought into the exact design she wanted and while I worked to make it happen she made a special invitation just for her dad.  I was impressed because I didn't help with any of the spelling!

The night prior to her birthday, when we tucked her in, she informed us that would be the last time we would hug a 5 year old, kiss a 5 year old, or tuck in a 5 year old.  LeeRoy almost cried.  It is so fun to watch her learn and grow but hard to accept sometimes how fast time goes by.

The morning of her birthday we woke her up with breakfast in bed.  She was tired but loved it!  Later we had a birthday party with both the grandparents and she was so excited to open all her presents.  Her favorite gift was a pair of skates.  She wore them the rest of the day and skated all over the house.  Emily made a special sign for Wendy's chair and that meant so much to her.  She loved sitting in front of it while eating her birthday cake.

We let Wendy choose where she wanted to eat for her birthday dinner and she picked Texas Roadhouse.  She ordered nothing and just had fun cracking and eating the peanuts!  She was so happy when the workers let her sit on the horse saddle and sang to her!  She kept saying over and over that she was having a great birthday!

Batman huh? Interesting. I never pictured little Wendy as a dark knight.
