LeeRoy received a coupon from JC Penney Portrait studio for some free pictures as a thank you to returning vets. We already had some family pictures done so I thought it might be fun to have the girls' pictures taken in their Christmas pajamas. They weren't too thrilled about going to the mall in pjs but they were troopers and I think the pictures turned out really fun!
After spending the holiday season without LeeRoy last year the phrase that echoed throughout our family over and over this Thanksgiving was how thankful we are to be together! We had an amazing day spent with the Cox Family. It was so nice to spend time with them. We visited, played games, rode 4-wheelers, did crafts, and ate till we were stuffed. It was the first time the girls rode on the 4-wheelers. Emily screamed that she was scared and Wendy screamed for LeeRoy to drive faster!
The night of Thanksgiving I was lucky enough to be able to babysit my new nephew, Peyton, while Alisha and Travis waited in line at Best Buy for their sale to start. It was so fun to have a baby in the house again.
The next morning we braved the crowds and headed to Idaho Falls with my mom, Alisha, and Travis for some blitz shopping. We got such amazing deals and LeeRoy and I were able to finish all of our Christmas shopping.
We had such a great weekend. We loved seeing family and doing fun things, but most of all we just enjoyed being together and realizing how much we truly have to be thankful for!
Emily loves channel 8 news, especially Karole Honas. She was recently assigned a project on Madison County by her fourth grade teacher as part of their Idaho History studies and quickly decided she wanted to be a channel 8 news anchor for it. She did all the research in school and picked all the locations. She even made giant cue cards so she could remember what to say on "location". We had a lot of fun traveling to the different places together as a family. Once we finished recording LeeRoy taught her how to edit video clips into a movie. Some of the clips were hard to hear thanks to the wind so she even learned to record her voice and dub it over the top in her video. She did great and we were very proud of all the hard work and time she put into this project!
Update: Emily's teacher suggested she send her video to channel 8 news. We did and she was very excited to get an e-mail back from both anchors. It meant so much to her that they took the time to do that!
Halloween this year was so much fun. The girls each had parties at both school and dance. Emily also had a party for Activity Days for church along with 2 others at her friend's houses. They were pretty busy but happy to get to dress up several times. Wendy was a pirate and Emily was a fortune telling Gypsy.
This was also the first year for the Grandstand of Terror. Wendy is too young for haunted stuff so she and I stayed home while Emily and LeeRoy went. LeeRoy said Emily was so nervous waiting in line that she kept offering to pay him back for the price of the tickets if he would let them leave. Once they got in though she really liked it and it was all she would talk about for days. She is already excited to go back again next year!
On Halloween weekend the Robison Family came to visit for my mom's annual Halloween dinner. We spent most of the day doing some early Christmas shopping and the rest eating great food and visiting together. It was especially nice having them home since this year for the dance showteam's Halloween party there was a pumpkin carving contest and Emily was eager to participate. Since Travis is such a great artist he was nice enough to come up with a design for her. She loved it and we all had fun carving our different pumpkins together. On Halloween night LeeRoy took the girls trick-or-treating. They came home with tons of candy. He told me that Wendy was the loudest kid on the block. She kept getting so excited she would just stop walking, raise her hands in the air and yell as loud as she could, " WE ARE TRICK-OR-TREATING......THIS IS SOOOOOO FUN!" He and Emily thought it was pretty funny.
