Memorial Day
The Robison's were nice enough to invite all the family out to their new house for a barbeque on Memorial Day and we had such a great time! They had so much food and Travis grilled us the most delicious steaks. The weather was pretty nice so the kids had fun running around outside, blowing bubbles, and playing on the swing-set. It felt wonderful to have us all together for the day!

Deer in the Neighborhood
While we were in the car driving to church this morning we spotted a deer running down the road. So, I did the only sane thing to do in that situation......followed it while taking video out the window of my car! The kids were so excited and thought it was the greatest thing ever!

I didn't capture the deer until about the 8 second mark.......oops!

Math Wiz
Today was the last day of school awards ceremony and Emily received a Math Wiz Award which included a certificate and a medal. Only one was given out per class and her teacher said she looked at a combination of ISAT math scores and math work throughout the year to determine who received the award. Way to go Emily, we are so proud of you!

Can she do it?
Yes she can!
Wendy happily informed me today that she could count to 100. I just said okay, not really believing her. So, she started counting and sure enough........she did it!

AR Carnival
The end of the school year is almost here and that means lots of fun activities at Emily's school. The one she has been looking forward to the most has been the accelerated reading carnival for 3rd-5th graders. Through the year she had certain reading goals she had to make by reading books and taking tests. When she met or exceeded those goals she earned points. At the carnival they were able to use their points to by things like candy, toys, or participate in an activity. There was so much for them to do and she had such a great time!

I forgot to include these in my last post. They are the pictures the wonderful Micha Wixom took for Downtown Dance.

Dance Recital 2010-2011
Emily's dance recital was this weekend and she was so excited. All the showteam companies, (Beginning, Junior, Varsity, and Elite), learn a dance that they perform together just for recital. They only had three practices to learn it but it was amazing to watch such talented girls. To watch a video of the opening number go HERE. Emily can first be seen at around the 3:05 mark. The pictures below will help you see where she is.
All the trophies Downtown Dance Studio won this season.

Beginning Company dancing to "Shake Your Groove Thing".
After recital all the companies did their cheer together for the last time.
Emily made some great friends this season who will be moving on to higher groups next year. It was hard to say goodby but she had such an amazing experience in dance this season and is already looking forward to try-outs at the end of the month. We are so lucky to have such a spectacular program for her to be involved in! The night was even more special thanks to Cami, Crista, and Nedra coming to see her perform. Cami even brought her the most beautiful flowers! Thanks so much, it really meant a lot to her!

V.I.P.
Emily was chosen to be the VIP, (Very Important Person), for her class this week. All the kids put their names in a jar at the beginning of the year and one by one their names got drawn out. Emily's name was the very last one to be drawn so she has been looking forward to this for a long time! She got to bring in pictures to be displayed on the bulletin board as well as help out her teacher for the week. She was also asked to bring in some items that were special to her and show them to the class. She took her dance trophies, rock collection, remote control spider, (the boys all thought that was amazing), a flower from Las Vegas, her Wicked ticket and program, and her "Flat Daddy". All the kids in her class made her cards and she handed out treats. It was a very special week for her!

Lunch in Iraq
Today I had the Western Bacon Grilled Cheese Burger for lunch. It has a grilled cheese sandwich topped with Mayo and BBQ sauce, 1 onion ring, 3-4 strips bacon, hamburger patty, 3-4 more strips bacon, another onion ring, and another Grilled cheese sandwich with mayo and BBQ sauce. I convinced 2 others to try it with me but was the only one who finished it alone. One other had to help out another soldier with finishing off his sandwich. We went over the ingredients and added up 1803 calories in just the sandwich! Then I had a Strawberry Fanta and a piece of pumpkin pie as well, making for a meal of 2400 calories. Tasty!

Wicked
This weekend Emily, Wendy, and I headed to Boise with my mom and Lacie to see Wicked. A quick stop to pick up Alisha on the way and we were off! We had so much fun traveling together. Sometimes laughing a bit too hard! Since Alisha didn't want to see the play she was nice enough to watch Wendy at the hotel while the rest of us went. They had fun watching cartoons together.

The play was amazing! We had such great seats and Emily sat on the edge of her chair gripping my arm the whole time. We all loved it! Emily hasn't stopped listening to the music since we got home!

On Saturday we headed out to the mall to do some shopping. Wendy has been begging me to get her ears pierced for some time and I finally decided to let her do it. I warned her that it would hurt but she would not be deterred. I really thought she would cry but she barely said "ow" and that was it. She was just fine and happy as could be! We let the kids play in the kiddy play area to work out their wiggles before heading home. We had so much fun on our "girls only" trip!
