Election 2012

Elections are a big deal in our family.  Especially presidential elections.  LeeRoy and I don't always vote Republican or Democrat.  We do a lot of research on the issues and have some great discussions before we each decide on who we want to vote for.  We also love to get the kids involved as much as possible.  We have talked to them a lot about the different candidates and how to voting process works as well as how it differs from other countries.  I really want them to get involved and excited in the process because I believe our right to vote is one of the many things that make living in America so great.  

By the time election day came we were all very excited.  We even dressed up in patriotic colors before we headed out to vote.  LeeRoy took Wendy and I took Emily  so we could show them the ballots and teach them first hand.  They loved it and are already looking forward to when they turn 18 and can vote for themselves.  

Once we got home we got into pajamas, turned on the news, grabbed some snacks, and pulled out our electoral maps so we could color in states as they were called.  To say we were disappointed at the end of the night when our candidate lost would be an understatement. However, we have the best hopes for the next four years and are already looking forward to the election of 2016!
