Spooky Reading Night

Last night Wendy's school held a Spooky Reading Night for all the students and families.  I had volunteered to help out so LeeRoy got to take her.  There were different games and stations they were able to go through and there was even a spook alley.  LeeRoy said it was a little much for Wendy and she got pretty scared but they had a great time!

Dracula's Diner

I found this fun idea for a Halloween dinner on Pinterest and was really excited to try it for some friends we had over for a dinner and game night.  It was Dracula's Diner.  You had to order items off the menu without really knowing what you were getting.  You could end up with just a fork and napkin or as LeeRoy learned, spaghetti with no fork.  We had a lot of fun.  I also wanted to do it with family so we invited the Palmer's to join us for a repeat dinner.  The girls loved decorating and helping to prepare the spooky food.  Wendy even made a sign for the front door.  I was really proud since she sounded all the words out herself.  We had a great time and loved laughing at each other.

EISF

We had yet another great year at the fair.  LeeRoy took Wendy on his day off and even though it rained they spent hours walking around looking at everything, riding rides, and petting all the animals.  LeeRoy told me she spent 20 minutes just petting and talking to a baby goat.  She is so adorable!  Emily went later in the week with her friend and they had fun riding rides until the late hours of the night.  On the last night of fair week we took Grandma and Lorenzo and went as a family to the demolition derby.  We had front row seats and the best moment of the night was when a batman car crashed into the barricade directly in front of us.  Wendy loved that!

1st Grade!

Wendy was so excited for school to start again.  She loves that she finally gets to go to the school grandma works at!  She came home from her first day so excited to tell me all about her teacher and the friends she made in class!

Mt. Borah

Borah Peak, at 12,662 ft. is the highest mountain in Idaho. The trail is only 3.9 miles long, but the elevation change is over a mile into the air in those four miles. A coworker told me that he had hiked it and I thought, if this joker can do it, so can I. So I gathered some co workers from Guard and we hiked it in a day. A long day of 7 hours up and 5 hours down. Fernandez said he would never answer an phone call from me again! I was sore for a week, but the others had blisters and lost their big toe nails due to the hike down.

Mini Broncadette Camp and Parade

Wendy was so excited to go to the Mini Broncadette Camp this year.  It was 4 hours on Friday and Saturday.  They did lots of fun things including learning a dance routine and performing it for all the parents.  They also got to ride on the Broncadette float during the Eastern Idaho State Fair Parade.  She was so happy and waved like crazy when she saw us cheering for her in the audience as she passed by!

6th Grade!

Emily was all ready to go to the 6th grade with all her friends until we heard about the new Idaho Science and Technology Charter school that also offered 6th grade.  We did a lot of research into the two schools and Emily really wanted to attend the Charter school.  I was really surprised since all but one of her friends are going to the the 6th grade school but I agreed to let her try it out for a year.

We went to registration and she was so excited to be able to decorate her locker and find all her different classes.  Today was her first day of school and she was beyond excited.  Wendy and I were able to take her and help her carry in all her supplies.  It was fun to be able to see her settled and already making friends.  I can't believe she is out of grade school already.  As a mom it's so hard to see her grow up but exciting at the same time to see her grown and expand out of her comfort zone.  When she came home from school she told me it was the best 1st day ever.  I think it is going to be an amazing year!
